THE TWO OWNERS of The Dove Parlour have been friends for more years than they care to admit. As young veterans of the New York City bar scene, when they opened The Dove in 2004, they had a very simple plan: to democratize decadence. In other words, their aspiration was to bring a bit of luxury to the everyday lives of New Yorkers, without the high prices and stuffiness one might expect. They designed The Dove to look like the parlour room of an old New York City brownstone. While the space exudes old world elegance, it has a decidedly come-as-you-are feel to it. The Dove Parlour has become known for its excellent selection of boutique wines, carefully-crafted and inventive cocktails, welcoming staff and, according to The Village Voice, “excellently curated” musical selections, all of which are enjoyed in the loveliest of surroundings.
